After the Box People:

The labour-capital relation as class constitution –
and its consequences for Marxist educational theory and human resistance

An article by: Paula Allman, Peter McLaren and Glenn Rikowski

This article theorises the relationship between Education and Capitalism, taking the point of view that the former has a great power for social transformation and for bringing about social relations that are informed by socialist humanism. The authors offer a cogent interpretation of Marxism for the modern world, in the process critiquing the internal contradictions of consumer capitalism.

In addition to this PDF, there is included here a video interview with Peter McLaren where he explains his conception of Critical Pedagogy in detail, its relationship to Marxism and the differences in theory and ideology between himself and his good friend Henry Giroux.
