Schools are increasingly designed to insulate children from public life. They look and operate more like prisons and factories than places of learning. Academic freedom is available only after 18 years of thorough conditioning into passivity and quiescence. This PDF is of the summary section of a lecture given to the Western Inquirey Center at Miami University, Oxford, in April 2010.
